this side of town.

it’s so quiet here

on this side of life

where my thoughts linger

in the spaces of silence

between us

the empty golden meadows extend

forever

the dusky sun of dawning blue

the majestic violet of mountains

separating me from you

i take walks on silent dust roads

hoping i’ll get to hear your voice

through the amplifying silence of life

i’m reaching out to you

are you reaching for me too?

beyond the jade pines of my needle eyes

where my wandering soul seeks symphonies

                                 from a world far too

it’s so hectic here

on this side of life

where my thoughts vanish

in the stream of loud voices

that drowns ours

the bustling concrete forest expands

forever

the choking grey of rusting steel

the shimmering glass of skyscrapers

separating me from you

i stay in from the crowded streets

hoping i’ll get to hear your voice

through silencing cacophony of life

are you reaching for me?

’cause i’m reaching out to you.

inside the pasture of my flowered mind

where my wandering soul seeks solitude

  from a world much too.

empty           noisy
